IAdea introduces XDS-1072 digital signage 10-inch general purpose smart signboard with PoE

Schwentinental, 25.09.2017 - The XDS-1072 smart signboard from IAdea Germany is one of the digital signage expert's cost-effective all-purpose entry-level solutions. The special feature of the 10-inch signboard with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels is that it only needs a single line to the display by using Power-over-Ethernet (PoE). As a result, the XDS-1072 smart signboard significantly reduces cabling requirements and meets the need for visual communication in locations where there is no unrestricted power supply.

A typical example for the use of the Smart-Signboard XDS-1072 is the interactive signage of conference rooms. This is mainly visual but also audio interactive due to the integrated loudspeakers. Like every signboard from IAdea, the cost-effective PoE entry-level display has numerous interfaces, for example for peripheral inputs such as motion sensors and touch-sensitive buttons, which can be used to customize the interactivity of the device. With support for HTML5 and SMIL, the XDS-1072 can also be customized and personalized at the software level. With these technologies, the device can display a wide range of content, including images, videos, graphics, and high-quality fonts. By using JavaScript, it is also possible to display dynamic content such as data from a live database or feed.

With the digital signage appliances from IAdea Germany, the 10-inch general-purpose smart signboard with PoE can be trimmed to fit a variety of deployment scenarios as needed. Even the entry-level model of IAdea's players, the XMP-6250, solves a wide variety of digital signage applications in brick-and-mortar retail, hotels, restaurants and businesses. For example, the XMP-6250 delivers hardware HD video playback for smooth 1080p video, as well as advanced onboard processing power for stunning HTML5 playback. The XMP-6250 does not have any fans, so it does not disturb potential streams with its own noise. However, the XMP-6250 still remains cool even during continuous operation as it has a built-in self-healing mechanism that ensures its functionality regardless of the environmental conditions. In addition, the IAdea digital signage appliance includes a micro SD port that is expandable up to 32 GBytes for longer presentations.

IAdea's CMS "SignApps Express", already included with the players, covers most of the content delivery. In addition, custom content management systems can usually be integrated without much effort. Those who have special cases or very specific requirements can also fall back on IAdea's partner network. "The operating system makes the difference," says Björn Christiansen, Managing Director of IAdeaDeutschland, "because unlike an open and vulnerable standard Android, the operating system of the IAdea players is immune to misuse and attacks from the Internet.

The operating system is a derivative of Android, but unlike the latter, it cannot be obtained publicly from the Google Play store because the Google Play server has been removed. In addition, the Android desktop is hidden to prevent unauthorized users from installing the application on the system. Likewise, no abuse is possible via Samba service, which is used to view files and folders from an Android system from a PC. And of course, there is password protection so that only authorized people can change the configuration and settings.

Another striking feature of IAdea Germany's own operating system is the encryption of the firmware. Before a new firmware can be installed, the operating system checks the encrypted firmware and also the encrypted key. Ergo: If someone tries to upgrade a compromised, fake or incorrect firmware, the upgrade will fail or display an invalid firmware package. Last but not least, IAdea has added several network authentications. For example, a proxy can be set up to act as a first line of defense for the device.
